Description
Insouciance (ex. Keltisle IV) was the last design of the late John Bain - a bespoke motorsailor design for the first owners.
Purchased by the current owner 3 years ago - the previous owner had her for some 20 years. Currently lying in Northern Ireland.
With her current owner she has had extensive refit work done including hull, spars and engines.

Construction
Constructed in Guernsey by Thornes Marine with keel laid in 1978 and finally finished and launched in 1981. Hull is carvel built with hard chine, of Iroko on oak frames and with teak laid decks.
Full-length keel with integral iron ballast keel, together with a pair of mild steel bilge keels. Fitted with conventional shafts and stern gear, together with a single mild steel plate rudder.
The wheelhouse and aft cabin are of teak construction with teak brightwork.
Engines
Twin Perkins 50hp 4108 indirect water-cooled four cylinder marine diesel engines (1980) located under the wheelhouse sole, along with batteries, water & fuel tanks. The engines have had very little use. Cruising speed about 8 knots.

Accommodation
Internal accommodation consists of a bosun’s store forward together with a forward stateroom containing 2 large berths, hanging space, a separate heads and opposite the WC (port side) a washbasin, all original in unique green tiles.
Steps lead up to the wheelhouse with sliding doors and hatches to both port and starboard aspects.
The helm station is located at the port side and fitted with a steering compass, engine instruments and controls. Aft of the helm is the navigation desk with full-size angled chart table and chart stowage.
Steps lead down to the galley, to starboard settee/berth and a large teak dining table & storage area, hanging lockers etc. Built-in cd/radio player, speakers and lamps.
The galley is fitted with a newer fridge with ice box (circa 2015) galley also contains a 3-ring gas hob, a microwave oven and a sink. Drawers, pantry and crockery lockers with worktop over.
Aft of the galley area is the saloon area with sturdy free-standing rectangular dinning table - sittee's eith side that double as generous single berths. The aft end of the saloon gives access to the aft deck and transom via doors and hatch.
Rig
Bermudian sloop rig with wood spars.
Mast is not original - having been replaced by the previous owner fairly recently but date not known - circa 2017. Mast and boom have since been off and revarnished with current owner.
Fitted with a mast tabernacle - meaning the mast can be lowered relatively easily for bridges/storage.
